Over the years, Ionia has partnered with state government, Kenai Peninsula social service agencies, and local grass roots groups on projects and coalitions.

  • Ionia residents are founding members of the Kenai Local Food Connection, whose message is: “Eat Local Foods. Nourish Our Community.”  We organize educational fun events promoting healthy local food.

  • Ionia partners with Canyon Arts School of Natural Building, Econest and other master builders to host natural building workshops, and volunteering opportunities for learning how to build beautiful efficient homes and heaters with locally sourced natural materials such as clay, straw and timbers.

  • An Ionia resident serves as board vice- president of the Alaska Peer Support Consortium, whose mission is “To develop, grow and nurture peer support & peer run services, Alaska style!”

  • Ionia residents are founding members of the CHOICES Board of Directors – an Anchorage program which offer non-coercive, alternative treatment for mental illness.

  • Ionia teaches regular plant based cooking classes in the community.
